The CSC Gala Happenings

A lot happens here at the CSC every day. This blog however, will try to focus on those goings-on that highlight volunteer and staff efforts to prepare for our huge annual fundraising event, entitled "The Newman Gala". This, then, is our story.

Behind the Scenes of the CSC Gala

Welcome to the 2008 Newman Gala blog. This is your exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into the making of the Gala. There will be a variety of people posting on this blog, and after the Gala, if you're interested in posting an anecdote about your dancing skills at the Gala or an account of how you used the picnic basket you won in the silent auction, just contact Erik at erik@kunstdesigns.com and he'll let you post here.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jamey Stegmaier, the Director of Operations at the CSC. What does that mean, you ask? It basically means that I supervise the staff and make sure this place is running smoothly. The cherry on top of my supervisory responsibilities (which are actually quite easy, considering how amazing the staff is) is that I'm the staff contact for the Newman Gala.

I have to say, it's been an honor and a priviledge to work with the people who put the Gala together. I came to the Newman Brunch a few times back when I was in college (Wash U grad, '03), and the people who put the event together did so well that I couldn't even tell they were there. Let me tell you, after working on the Gala for three months, those people are there. I would go as far as to say that next to mass, more people get involved in the CSC Gala on some level than any other event or program at the CSC. Three people showed up tonight for a canceled meeting, and all three were gracious enough to stay and chat about ways we could make the Gala auction the best ever. I'll repeat, I am honored to work with these volunteers.

I have a lot more to say about the Gala, but I'll save it for another time. I'll try to post a few times a week leading up to the Gala, and other volunteers and committee chairs will get into the act as well. The easiest way to keep up with this blog is to look in the bottom left corner of this screen and click the word "Atom." This will open up a page that will allow you to add this blog as a feed, which is basically marking this page as one of your favorites (the difference is that the link to a feed, found by clicking the gold star on the top left of Internet Explorer, will turn bold when there's something new on the page. New material will come to you). Also, if you have any thoughts/questions/ideas about the Gala, e-mail me at stegmaier@washucsc.org. I'd love to hear your feedback.
